In early 2020, my younger brother (who was 24 at the time) wanted me to go see "Frozen 2" with him. I figured, "Sure; why not?". As we were watching the movie and this song ("Into the Unknown") was playing, I started drumming along on my lap and doing double bass with my feet when I thought, "This could be a metal song..."
I was a bit resistant to the idea at first cause I thought it might be gimmicky and I don't really like doing covers, but I also thought it might be a good opportunity for me and I should at least try it out. I made a rough draft and thought it sounded pretty cool, so I decided to go through with it.
Of course, producing it ended up taking longer than I'd hoped, and eventually I wasn't really sure when to release it, but December seemed like an appropriate time to do so. I've since learned that there have been other metal covers of this song, but I only drew inspiration from the original track itself.
Hopefully, this gives you a sense of what my style is like; I hope you like it!
lyrics
LYRICS:
I can hear you, but I won't
Some look for trouble while others don't
There's a thousand reasons I should go about my day
And ignore your whispers which I wish would go away, oh
You're not a voice, you're just a ringing in my ear
And if I heard you, which I don't, I'm spoken for I fear
Everyone I've ever loved is here within these walls
I'm sorry, secret siren, but I'm blocking out your calls
I've had my adventure, I don't need something new
I'm afraid of what I'm risking if I follow you
Into the unknown
Into the unknown
Into the unknown
What do you want? 'Cause you've been keeping me awake
Are you here to distract me so I make a big mistake?
Or are you someone out there who's a little bit like me?
Who knows deep down I'm not where I'm meant to be?
Every day's a little harder as I feel your power grow
Don't you know there's part of me that longs to go?
Into the unknown
Into the unknown
Into the unknown
Whoa
Are you out there? Do you know me?
Can you feel me? Can you show me?
Whoa
Where are you going? Don't leave me alone
How do I follow you
Into the unknown?
